Good ride today to Whitstable and back, spoilt slightly by a bit more knee pain despite adjusting my saddle position in the wake of the Hell of the Ashdown.
Anyway, the reall ball-ache was getting yet another f-ing puncture on the way out of Whitstable (bottom of the hill on Canterbury road, opposite the fire station, for those who know the place) which I am sure contributed to the knee issue as I climbed it effectively cold.
So, the question is, what tyres give the best value in terms of puncture resistance vs price? Anyone? |

I have not had a single flat since changing from Vittorias to Bontrager Hardcases. Not meant to be the best in the wet but I have never had any problems (too slow ) |

On BR I see that Contis get slated, of course that's what I'm on as that's what came on the bike. Swalbe seem popular but glad to hear of others' experiences. |

I know the conyi ultra are bad (I have them also) but thought the conti gp4000 & gatorskin were better - ive seen some good reviews & they both have puncture resistance. |

The Gatorskins are an absolute love or hate tyre. Personally, I gave mine away after my second puncture in 400 miles and also found them very skittery in the wet. I'm now running on Marathon pluses which have been fantastic. Exceptional punture protection and they handle nicely too BUT they are hard going and the extra effort needed to keep them rolling is noticeable, IME anyway. Cheers, Chris |

I run GP4000S which are an absolute gem only 1 puncture* in over 12 months riding, not cheap mind, and corking in the dry

noob alert: I think my bike has 4000s on, and I was openly ridiculed by the seller asking if they're any good.
I refuse to discuss the p word, as I've not had one in it's less than 50 mile ownership!!! perhaps that's why????

Have not heard good things about slimes, either they dont fix the puncture (130psi takes a bit of stopping) or they roll badly. I personally need new tyres & after a fair bit of research will try conti 4000s. |

I run gatorskins & have not been disapointed. Very nice tyre. They seem fine in the to me & i've had 1 puncture in .......... No I think I've had one puncture. They do seem to get a very mixed review though |
