Which is why (if my eyes dont decieve me) I was surprised to see an old Opel Manta and an a Mk1 Audi Quatro in the mix. Did they have a historic class?

The older I get the faster I was!

found up in loft today (as making space for christmas decs) old Autosport supplement from 1994 Network Q Rac rally as saw special stage at Clumber Park .... lots of cars there still in the pics above

555 subarus - McRae and Sainz and Burns, Toyota Celica 4WD Kankkunen & auriol & RS Cosworths Vatanen & delacour plus 205s 309s 106XSi and a Clio 16S

whilst on old rally stuff I preferred the group Bs in Rallycross as too fast in WRC, especially 205T16 - Marlboro livery one used to be be pretty quick at Brands and Lydden - liked Rs200s as well and even 6R4s

You might be interested in going to Lydden on easter Monday then as its a round of the uk rallycross championship and last I heard there were 15+ cars in the super car classes. I might be heading over.

Strange you should mention the 6R4! I was trying to convince a younger collegue the other day that a worthwhile metro existed after he scoffed at an advert offering "one of the best metro's left", a lovely 6R4 for £80k

You have to fall off to know where the edge is!

MH: Dorans old RS200 is still around and Lawrence Gibson won the British Championship in 2008 in his n/a 6R4. These days its more ex WRC cars ie Focus, Fabia, odd C4 then the specials like the Dorans 500+bhp Fiestas, Volvos etc. The European series is shown on Motors TV or Men and Motors, forget which, they can have upto 20 odd cars like that per event!

Getting OT now heh but heres the entry list just posted, look at the Supercar class! They are all 500 odd bhp and rumour was they are starting 5 a breast at Lydden which can only lead to total carnage on entry to the rough heh http://www.rallycrossuk.com/rd1_entry.php

edit: Live on Motors TV on Monday http://www.motorstv.com/tv-guide-uk?d=2010-04-05&h=3

That sounds like a good bit of bank holiday entertainment - may well head down to watch.
