Hi Guys, you probably get fed up with this question, but here goes.
Want to buy a new bike for off road XC rides, nothing too extreme as I'm 52 ( 6'1" and 17 stone ish ),reasonably fit, go to gym and used to do a lot of spin classes, but want to get out and about. Had some advice from local shops but would welcome some impartial comments. Think I just need a hardtail with a budget of £750 - 900 or thereabouts. Based on nothing much I have a shortlist of a Specialized Rockhopper ( although rock hopping is not on agenda ), Marin Northside or a Trek 6300. I don't know me Shimano from Sram etc so over to you guys.
Cheers
Kev
P.S. I live in Aylesford so have some local XC routes but would like to travel to other areas as well. Is there a veterans club

I need some advice on shoes. Need to get some new ones before Keilder as my current ones are falling apart. Tried on some Specialized BG Sport earlier but am also thinking of Shimano AM51's and M123's. The Sports felt really comfy in size 44 (45 in all my other shoes ) but with winter in mind there's not much to them, which brought me to AM51's. Anyone else tried these? Are Shimano's generally as comfortable as Specialized? I've been driving myself mad trying to decide the last 2 hours

My 661 Evo's are knackered and need replacing. With the Keilder 100 in mind i need some that will be comfortable for hours and hours... I can't justifie nearly £70 for another pair of Evo's so was thinking about the Fox Launch, has anyone on here got/had any of these? A lot of people have said that Carl Straits rub after a few hours so am not considering them. Like the look of the Troy Lee's too. Any other's i should be looking at?
