Had some advice from local shops but would welcome some impartial comments. Think I just need a hardtail with a budget of £750 - 900 or thereabouts. Based on nothing much I have a shortlist of a Specialized Rockhopper ( although rock hopping is not on agenda ), Marin Northside or a Trek 6300. I don't know me Shimano from Sram etc so over to you guys.

Anyone else tried these? Are Shimano's generally as comfortable as Specialized?
