Cycle To Work Scheme
#1
Hi, My work has signed up to the cycle to work scheme so I effectively have £1000 to spend on a bike. I'm thinking one of these two:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Cannondale-Prophet-2-Mountain-Bike-2009-Full-Suspension-MTB_21229.htm">http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Cannondale-Prop ... _21229.htm</a><!-- m -->

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Specialized-Pitch-FSR-Comp-Mountain-Bike-2009-Full-Suspension-MTB_20997.htm">http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Specialized-Pit ... _20997.htm</a><!-- m -->

Any ideas on these? Any other suggestion.

I after a bike that is going to take the abuse I give it. It will be used for xc, a bit of dh at places like aston and porc, and blast round blean and bbh etc.

A bike shop in folkestone has the Cannondale in stock in a medium, which means i can get it quick! The Pitch would need to be ordered from somewhere.

If you get the Pitch i will have to come round and bitch slap you Wink I was saving for a Pro but due to work and a few other things i couldn't afford it and had to in second hand with the Enduro. It's a tough choice between those two as they have both got 10 out of 10 reviews so i would definitely test ride both. The general concensus is that the Pitch is better DH and Prophet better at climbing and tight singletrack, and iirc the Prophet has a slightely better spec.

Do you know which C2W scheme your work is going through? evans?halfords? C2W? They all have different restrictions on what bike you can get and if you can go over the £1k limit. Evans allow you to go over the 1k.

from what I've read the Pitch is now a bugger to get hold of, as most places sold out pretty fast

Everyone I know that's got/rode a Prophet thinks they're ace

Hi think the pitch 'pro' is near on impossible to get hold of but there are plenty of 'comp' bikes about. its this one id go for.
