The one for the road thread!

What do people ride as their non-MTB bike?

I would really like a bike to ride on the roads for the winter to keep the fitness up and get the miles in.

Curious to hear what others have and ride.

A 18 year old specialised allez, 8speed shifters, 9 speed cassette, Mtb triple with no front mech, pannier rack, it's all sorts of wrong but it's fast and reliable.
Keep it foolish...

Planet X Pro Carbon

Purchased January 2014 and has done a stack load more miles than all my off road bikes put together!

Great value for money

Eddy Merckx EMX-1 frame with custom build. Ultegra 6800 with Fulcrum 5 wheels. I've only had it a few months, but really like it so far. Before that I rode an American Planet X alloy equivalent. Like Pittgoat, I've put many more miles on these than my MTBs. I've only ridden my mountain bike about 4-5 times in the last year, though was off the bike due to injury to nearly 3 months.

For me the miles you get out of a road bike is allure. I am not saying that it is pulling me away from the MTB but it is very attractive for the winter especially after the mild winters where a lack of frost has made the trails appear particularly undesirable!

It's great to have as an option. If I could have 1 bike it'd be an MTB. If I could have 2 it'd be an MTB and a roadie

Nice to be able to get out without getting too muddy once in a while

I wouldn't mind a CX for the winter, then you can do some offroad bits to break up the boring road miles.

I like the look of the Cotic Roadrat. I just can't get my head around curly handlebars!

I've a Boardman Team Carbon, bought June 2014 on C2W and it's been great. I swapped the wheels for some lighter Forza hoops last summer which made it feel & sound better, I just don't get/make the time to ride it like I should Sad
