I think any discovery of circumventing a companies policy or firewalls would be met with dismissal.

Depends on the size of the company of course - but you're risking your job just to look at Facebook!

Oh god, I'm nnot gonna try it here (global defence company = ridiculous security!) just thought it might be of interest really, clever concept.
Not the SSH thing, too complex, but installing the phpproxy on a PHP server & just browsing to that is rather nifty Smile

Hmmmmm tampering with the security settings at work is punishable by death.... or the sack!

I asked the IT people if they would unblock Sketchy (as I can only view the forum at work and not post) - I could still hear their laughter even after they'd slammed the phone down...... oh well.

Take it your not at work now then as your posting.  Most firewalls are statefull - ie port open in = port open out (within the same flow) so they must have blocked on purpose.  Typical IT bod trying to be an arse probably.  Its the way they get kicks.

Aye they do. They even blocked ebay too at one point, you could view items but not bid which was really annoying to say the least - guess they have nothing better to do.
