When are you going? I'm in Chamonix for a week from 6th Feb. I don't ski though so I'll be finding other things to do.

Jealous as fook man! They have a lot of snow there now, over 1 1/2m in a few days apparently! Where are you staying?

6th is my birthday, I fly on the 8th to Morzine but it's about 70miles from Chamonix. If you fancy a drive head over one day.

You should totally take a beginner's ski course. I promise it will be worth it, mine was about 15 years ago but was full of adults, great fun and took us from utter beginner to red slope capable in just a few days. I don't snowboard, and wish I did really because I can vaguely skateboard, but from a beginner's point of view there is a lot more sitting on your bum and falling over.

I was in Chamonix a couple of years ago, incredible landscape, very expensive little town though. What are your plans if no ski?
Keep it foolish...

Skiing would be a bad idea at the moment. I'm carrying an injury... For a change.

Somebody else has arranged everything. I just have to fly there from Barcelona. I'm just going to explore, do some snow walking, maybe a husky ride, go up the mountains, eat too much and take photos. Oh, and I'll be job hunting as I'm now unemployed. Won't have a car sadly. I'm limited to Chamonix and wherever the buses and trains take me.

What you done now?! Chamonix is a good choice for a non skier, it's a pretty big town so plenty else to do. You have to go up to the top of Mont Blank, there's a visitors centre and an ice cave, and i believe there are a few walks you can do up there too.

Dodgy knee.
I've been before but had the flu. Lovely town. Loads of snow at the moment too it seems. I'm checking out Barcelona first... I fly tomorrow. Can't wait.
