Kona Mashup 2010, 12th June 2010

resim

Me and a mate are doing this, not sure how much entry fee will be but plan is to travel up on the 11th June, ride trails on the Friday, race Saturday (more of a fun experience than actually racing) and then ride again Sunday, travel home on Sunday afternoon.

I believe there is entertainment on in the evening with the usual bike porn in the form of sponsors etc to have a nosey at.

We will be camping and making it as cheap as humanly possible, probably take a camping stove and eat cheap too. Camp sites should be about £3.50 pppn.

Anyone interested in joining us

Just found this which is the previous years entry form, last year it was £30 per person.

The way the race works is on the second page. Basically for those mountain goats amongst you there is a normal category which will time you on the entire lap, ups or down, then a technical category which only times the descents and single track. You can do sections as many time as you want and they take your best time at the end of the day.

Ironically I was talking about this with friends earlier but last years page was down. Hoping to do it, could be a laugh as long as they sort last years timing issues so I can confirm how slow I am heh

I like the idea of having all day to ride the race route and the bits you like just ride them again, should be a good atmosphere in the evening too, beer + bikes, what could be better

Looks like two maybe three of us up for this with the idea of booking uplift at Cwmcarn for the Sunday. Thinking we prob need to book camping early due to the limited space.
