Ordinarilly i love food, hence my ever expanding and shrinking and expanding waist line, but i can't eat much when riding. When i force myself to eat regularly i do feel better though, like last weekends KT ride where they were amazed how i could peddle up hill in 9th!

Best of luck Jon, sure you'll love it mate Smile
As for fitness, you'll probably be fine having cover the distances you have.
Take a big bag of jelly babies or wine gums, keep a pile in jersey/short pocket & eat them regularly, they'll help with the cramps & energy levels.

Well done on the ride. I did it too. Not sure if I'd do it again. Managed to raise over £600 and not puke whilst doing it.

Massive sense of achievement. Know what you mean about the finish I was suprised to be that choked up too. I did it for my dad as it was his funeral charity..

I've only gone and done it again!!!

Did the London to Southend Off Road last Sunday with my son, so it seemed rude not to treat it as a training ride. And I wanted to do L2B better this year.

Very proud of my lad, doing 40miles off road for a 15year old is no mean feat!

Well done mate...Whats the L2b ride like.. Is it all off road. Thought I'd read somewhere that there were sections along the tarmac as well but wasnt convinced. How long did it take you last year & whats your goal for this year

Cheers mate,

It's ok, it's not all off road, there are some short road sections and paths along the banks of the Thames. A long chunk of it is in the Downs Link Path which is disused railway path, there's nothing particularly gnarly.

I think it took me about 6¾hrs last year.

My goal for this year is just to enjoy the build up to it more, last year I didn't know what to expect and worried too much about getting mileage and training and almost stopped enjoying mountain biking... This year I've just been out riding and having fun and not worrying about it.
