Freehub Advice
#1
Can anyone help?

Homerjs freehub doesnt seem to be engraging when pedalling forward.....

Today at Penmachno, about 1pm, during a rather perilous climb, homers drive was almost gone, as if his chain was off.

Some basic advice given was to douse the internals in degreaser and tap it....

Whats caused it, and how can we fix it....

homers welsh trip is a little spoiled at present....

douse in degreaser and even wd40, it is likely to be clogged with filthy greasy muck. i did it with wd40 on a totally seized freewheel and it worked shortly after. the pawls of the rachet system in the freehub are clogged.
Keep it foolish...

The only permanent fix is a new freehub body unless it is a servicable body, could be the pawls are seized up a little and not returning or it's just worn out. There isn't much grease in them as it causes too much drag and it won't freewheel properly,so you could give it a squirt of WD40 if it's an emergency but it will degrease the drive side bearings too so it will all need stripping down anyway.
