Garmin Map Advice
Probably - when I first tried, the contours ruined the screen as it was way too busy, even with detail on low. And road names where massive.

Will try again to see if theres an improvement.

FWIW, the main suggested one has a nice balance of detail for trails without overclogging the screen.

Might look good sat infront of your PC, but riding with them maybe something quite different.

I'll take a look....
This is starting to make some sense now. I'll try open mtb, toaster and Ben's suggestion and let you know what i think
Test route done using open mtb and i'm pretty imnpressed.  If the others are even better then great!

One quesion - how do i find the total climb for the route in mapsource?
Didnt you find the garmins screen too busy when using openmtb? Mine went mad and listed everything on the screen at once.

Not used mapsource,  only used sporttracks
I've got openmtb and toaster loaded for comparison.  First impressions are that openmtb might be easier to follow on the move.  I can't seem to get the talky contour lines to work though - they are selected in the "maps" section

Will download and try option 3 (garmin 1400?) as well
