Try an XTC before you buy Steve - the XTC comp is very much a race bike and i'm not sure if the standard XTC is the same geometry.  Long top tube so you have a stretched out riding position.  Its great for some riding but anything technical is much better on something with more standard geometry.  I absolutely love mine alongside the Trance, but if you're only going for one bike i'd go for more of an all rounder...

i was thinking about still keeping the carrera upgrading the forks on that, then starting from scratch on the new one (XTC or 456), i suppose there  is going to be a slight advantage of having the carrera for harder places (BBH) and then a XTC for places like blean

but then again i could just get a 456 frame and build that up swapping/upgrading parts from the carrera

Damnnn there is to many optiions  Sad

I have got a 456 as well, but its single speeded with carbon on one forks.  I sometime use it to ride to work, and if it is really muddy use that instead of the FS.

Mines an older blue one though, and has a ding in the down tube where I stacked it and the U turn adjuster popped up and hit it.  That was my excuse to buy the FS Wink You know it could fail at any time ;D

Steve T, have you considered a Cove Handjob, I bought one in the summer and swapped the bits over from my Pace, it rides like an
absolute dream, they cost a little more but it is a awsome piece of kit.
