Fox Shocks & LBS
#1
Been away up t'north ( well Milton Keynes, but it's all north from here ) for a few days so I dropped my Cube into the LBS for a service just to make sure the warranty is OK and I thought I'd get them to do the dust seals service on the Fox's, as it was only gonna be an extra £20. Rang them today and they said it was ready but they had ordered a new set on stanchions  :o as mine had a scratch on ( deffo no scratch on when took them in ) When I said 'Really ?', he then  said ' the bikes quite new isn't it ? ', me 'yes' ( still calm) he then said ' to be fair I think where the scratch is, it looks like we've done it  :o :o, so the new stanchions are down to us'  Blimey.

The thing is , do I need to be concerned at all about the new stanchions they are going to fit  Undecided

If you clean the dust seals without removing the lowers then if not done carefully there is a risk of scratching the stantions, i imagine matey in the LBS slipped with the screw driver while pulling up the wiper seals!

New stantions are around £200.

Well I hope you are expecting them to pay for it. Especially when he has admitted it is them!! Otherwise I can recommend a shotgun and an angry shouting voice!

Like you say, you don't have to be concerned with the stanchions, just who's going to pay for them.  :o

They've admitted it's their fault, so no problem with having to pay, just didn't know if there were likely to be any issues with new stanchions, but I guess not providing they fit them OK.

I think I'll do my own dust seal service in the future the upside down way !
