Chainrings
#1
I've just replaced my chain and cassette and my new chain isn't sitting well with my ol chainrings so I am going to replace them. My current chainset is a Shimano M762XT one with 104/64mm 4 bolt rings, will any rings with that set up fit? I've read something about some newer XT cranks having different thicknesses/offsets?

I'm looking at these at the moment:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Kits.aspx?ModelID=3363">http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Kits ... delID=3363</a><!-- m -->

The middleburn website says they're 4 blots are 104/64mm but don't want to order them if there is a problem with width/offstes.

Cheers

Yep any 104/64 will be fine, its the M770's where they decided to be difficult and come up with their own sizes, good ol Shimano!

You may be able to get away with just replacing your middle ring, or maybe middle/granny.  It depends on how badly worn your old chain was, and how much you used each ring.

Use the middle ring/granny for all xc/ race purposes and only the big ring when commuting, prob best replacing all 3 and it being done with. Cheers.

There was a new set of M770's going for £50 on STW yesterday, maybe worth a look in case they havent been snapped up.
