Oh LOL, found that yesterday and completely missed the bit that told you how to get files on to it. I had downed several sherbets though, and figured it out without RTFM Wink There is no CD in the box and nothing in the Garmin liturature that tells you to download a load of plug inns and program's to get it to work either.

I assume you mean Garmin base map? Is that better than the OSM one?

Which one do you use? Haven't found a free one on the Garmin site yet?

lol, and i thought andy was going to manage something on his own for once.

Took me all of 30 seconds to find this.....

To import the file(s) to the Edge 800:

Transfer the file(s) via an application like Garmin Training Center or Garmin Connect
Manually load the file(s) to your device:
Plug your Edge 800 into your computer
Navigate to the Edge 800 drive
Navigate to the Garmin folder
Navigate to the NewFiles folder
Place the file(s) to be imported in the NewFiles
Disconnect the Edge 800 from the computer
The Edge 800 will process files located in the NewFiles folder and convert into .fit files for use.

Obviously I was lucky to stumble across it on the "Garmin support FAQ" website.  Undecided

This has a lot of links etc <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://frank.kinlan.co.uk/garmin-edge-800/dummies-guide-to-the-garmin-edge-800/">http://frank.kinlan.co.uk/garmin-edge-8 ... -edge-800/</a><!-- m -->

thats because you dont need to. Its just a mass storage device that you drag and drop files into. The plugins are probably for converting routes or producing new ones ready for transferring. I used to use memory map to produce routes but you have to buy it separately.

At the risk of sounding like Breezer, do you read my posts? I said already that I found that yesterday but missed that bit. I'm done with it for now, will check out Base Camp tomorrow.
