The problem with Strava is that some people just try to ride a short segment as quickly as possible, rather than caring about your average speed.  It's not reflective of real riding.  It's like saying I ran a marathon in 8 hours but one of my miles was a 5 minute mile.  You get these Strava geeks that just do a warm-up then sprint up a climb and give up for the rest of the day.  Whoopdie-effing-do.
