No more zoo run rides......?
#1
I 've been told that Port lympne and Howletts are going to be closed or sold.At the weekend the owner was in one newspaper stating that he was going to return some of his animals to the wild.Told today that zoo's are going to close, partly caused by senior employee "activities".Rode thru Howletts a couple of weeks ago, have'nt done Port Lympne for months.

Good. Zoos are bloody awful places. Presumably the rights of way will remain though?

Rights of way should be ok.Howletts has tried to have the footpath that splits the zoo in half, diverted but it was opposed by locals and ramblers. They replied by plating the sides of the foot bridge so that you could'nt see the elephants whilst using the bridge. Before, you could look down onto both elephant enclosure's.

could lead to some fast rides down that way

have they had more employees feeding the animals?

Thats a shame, obviously the casino business isn't going too well..... I hope they keep the right of way access is its quite a nice little run, can't ride it for toffee but like it all the same. Just gotta wait and see how things progress

I live just a stone's throw from Howletts, in fact if I walk out of my gate across the field I come to the elephant enclosure within a few minutes, so now I am worried about what may become of the place...

The drop through port lympne is a bridle way so any sale will not be affected.hope so as I live five mins from it Wink
But,if someone could stop the horses and walkers using it,I could improve my strava down it Smile

I've heard these rumors for a few weeks. The view is that they will be bought out as Port Lympne has has some serious investment over the last year or so and some of that work is only just being finished now.
