Does anyone know of any good bike manufacturers, builders in New Zealand, friend of mine is going to work/live there for a couple years, and wants to but locally.

I popped into a number of bike shops when in NZ and didnt notice any unusual brands. They were all mainstream like we would get here.

I'd be amazed if the bikes are made in NZ (they'll be Tiwanese I imagine), but Avanti are an NZ company designing & selling bike in NZ & Australia.  Nice bikes too.

They have a good website, so have a look there first, but I do know someone who works for them ;D
Can't offer discounts, but you can be assured of a completely biased opinion Wink

As with the rest of the civilised world all the major brands are available, especially the American ones. Spesh are big in NZ & most bike shops will do test bikes for good periods (with security of course)

Depending where you friend is settling I may be able to help, but I only know a couple of people there it's just that they all happen to be into & work with bikes.
