Well worth the extra if you have a GXP bb.  Sram GXP bottom brackets are poo!

That's putting it politely. They're sh!te.

Don't waste your money on the ceramic bearings though. Steel are fine.

At the load and speed generated on a bike, bearing material is inconsequential, much more important is the sealing, especially given that they are likely to be subjected to grime and grit. I run shimano cheap bbs.
