Howies Dyfi Enduro 2014
#1
Last weekend 13 of us headed up to Machynlleth in Wales, from Kent to take part for the first time in the Dyfi Enduro.

It was a fantastic, fun but tough event,around  6800 ft of climb up to what could be classed as red and black graded descents over 41 miles.

The entry was only £25 which included camping for the weekend, entertainment, food and beer during enduro.Bargain.

This is our video of the weekend

Beer during.... That's asking for trouble lol. Will watch video later. I read the stw report the other day and got some rage just thinking about the hold ups in the singletrack as mass start, did it clear up and spread out ok as you got further into it?

There is 1100ft 7 mile climb out of the town to the first singletrack descent, with ample overtaking opportunities when you hit the forest so the queue will be as long or short as your start position/fitness/hill climbing ability allows .I had a very short cue on first descent but clear after that-my mate Dunc and a couple of others in the vid had clean run because they went for it up climb and was rewarded. We started a way back in the pack too.

The beer was at the Dickos Bar and Disco-at the finish for those that choose the shorter loop-or the start of the extra 10k for those that didn't :-)

I did this last year and the year before. The first time I rode fast with my gf, can't remember my time but we did the full distance and fairly quickly too, she beat me by about 45 seconds as I had a bit of a kerfuffle with a tree about 300m from the finish line. The following year I rode with a mate, he's a big lad and we found our position in the pack rather quickly. We stayed in last place for the opening few miles but started to reel riders in eventually. We did the short course as a were taking it easy.

Sounds like you had a good time
Keep it foolish...

Just watched, did you get there a bit early to set up camp lol. BMX's crashing in 2nd video amusing. Event looks good, I would have to hypnotise myself into making it just a day out riding and not a race to avoid carnage although I suspect I wouldn't be able to stop myself overtaking and/or ranting about victims slower riders in the way all the time.
