Block Paving question
#1
So I have a 4" thick concrete base fairly flat & level & wish to lay a 2" block paving over the top. The question is what is the minimum depth of sharp sand I can get away with under my blocks.... I need to be conscious of the fact that I'm creeping up my 2 courses of brick under my DPC the deeper I go. I'm hoping that I can get away with 30mm...whats the chances  Undecided. Its a patio so not being driven on, foot & paw traffic only  Undecided

Alternatively if I add some cement into the mix would that help & could I go thinner if I did  Undecided

As you have a solid concrete base-I would imagine that the sharp sand depth would be just enough to bed and level your blocks.

Bed them on shallow mortor it will hold them in place better than sharp sand on concrete. But it will take more time.

Someone refered me to this site when I did my drive - they have a section about laying on top of concrete

Thanks Paul, that website confirms a 30mm bedding is fine  ;D
