Glentress and Innerleithen
#1
Hi all,

As you may or may not know a few of us when to Scotland for a week to ride Innerleithen and Glentress trails. Well before I start WHAT A WEEK that was the best riding and company I have had on any of my trips and like the rest of us (the reason it has taken a while to do this) is am now depressed as I know I am not going to ride like that again for a while.

I took us 7 hours to drive up there and when we got there the people we stayed with were there to greet us and give us the keys. We stayed at www.innerhaven.co.uk if you do go make sure you stay there.
A fantastic place and very modern and done out for the mountain biker by mountain bikers, next time we go i am going to try and get Andy (the owner) to show us some routes but wont be for a while as the wife will Kill me Tongue.

Day 1 First trail was the Blue run at Glentress as suggested be the people at innerhaven as they said its often over looked but the last section is brilliant and much more fun that the blue route grade would suggest. Lunch at the Hub cafà(not as good as Skyline) and then of to do the red run which was very good but not memorable (apart from Spooky Wood that was very very good) compared to the rest.

Day 2 we did the Red run at Innerleithen and that was fantastic taking in part of the Downhill runs. This trail had Black run parts and was extremely technical on the climbs up as well as the downs. The climbs had huge boulders and technical features for you to fall and hurt yourself…but I will let Andy and Nick tell you about that Wink . The downs are out of this world extremely fast with high berms and jumps with a few tabletops thrown in. You know when you hit the Downhill section as the jump get very big and the distance and drop you need to cover get bigger and bigger. Needless to say we sessioned this section for a while before moving on. Neil (Cacti2) nearly killed him self by throwing himself and bike of the side of the trail, I think Russ pushing him a bit fast had something to do with it Smile. After that we when and played at the Freeride park.

Day 3 was the Black run at Glentress which was long, hard, fast, technical, what a black run should be. After that we went to Edinburgh for the evening and had a nice meal and drink and found ourself talking about women most of the night. I drove home as the rest had drunk, now I am not sure what the policeman didn’t like Ether a) me driving 38 mph in a 30 zone or b) Nick taking pictures of women as we drove past . Anyway he let us off because I was very humble and said sorry a few times..

Day 4 and our last we said we would do the Black run again and have a BBQ at the freeride area to finish the day. Black run was a bit Sh*t for me due to me ripping a hole in my tyre and having a 2.2 tube put in so was taking it slower so I didn’t rip the tyre any more or flat. I did however get up a nasty little climb which with much preservation I manage to clean (I was not going home until I did it). Freeride area was fun and I believe Buzz has put some footage up of some of the runs we did. Then we had a nice BBQ next to the trails.

Looks awesome and thought it would take longer to get up there. What time of the day did you leave and what about return journey?

Seeing that impressive photo of Buzz and his video from the other thread, I now understand why you are having issues with those frames, I would say thats asking more than what they are designed for but the Orange he mentioned should be up to it although it may bring extra weight etc, always got to comprise somewhere.

Hmm I was going to have a rest this week after riding 4 times last week but those photos make me want to get back out on the bike Smile
