+1 for boots own with deet, or use jungle formula, also with deet.

Apparently anything with a lot of deet rots plastics though, so make sure you don't get it on your grips or anything else plastic. I was reading a thread on Bike Radar the other day and some sort of moisturizing cream is supposed to be just as good as bug spray, and there's another one used by the military. I'll have a look for it and let you know.

Found it. It's called Skin so Soft spray by Avon, and something called jungle formula, which is used by the British army. Skin So Soft is what they mainly use up i the Scottish Highlands apparently, so must be good.

It's only one colour of Skin so Soft that works and its great for the midges in Scotland... sadly i can't remember which colour as i don't suffer from insect bites....  i eat Marmite which wards them off...
